EBAY LIMITED NUMBER OF LISTINGS ON NAME BRANDS - ANYONE ELSE?????
personalshop4u  (786 ) View Listings | Report Dec-09-06 16:00 PST
X-( I just tried to list an item and was informed that there is a selling limit on my account. I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of 100% Authetic Items for sale. I have receipts to back up all of my items. This is christmas!!! How can they do this? I have been doing business on Ebay since 1999 and have 99.9% postive feedback. On the days of listing sales I will list over 100 authentic coach items in a day. I have never had this problem. This is KILLING my business.

After talking to live help numerous times, I found out that Ebay has just instiutated a policy that they didn't warn anyone about. They just decided to implment it during the busiest week of the year. If your ebay account and paypal account aren't linked and you are listing name brand stuff. It will limit you. Even after linking them, it still isn't working. I have to wait for an email response back from ebay in 24 to 48 hours. (AFTER MY BIGGEST SELLING WEEKEND IS OVER).

I am beyond mad. I am a single Mom who does this for a living. I have bought tons of inventory that I won't be able to sell unless they lift this limit very quickly.

HAs anyone else had this problem? If you have, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, contact Ebay and complain! They shouldn't institute policies this big, 2 weeks before christmas and not notify anyone that this might be a problem. X-(

Exactly...I'll be scared to death to spend that much money with the intention of listing it here. And hey, even through all of this, I feel like I'm meeting some nice people just chatting here...You for one!!!

It feels better knowing that we are not alone in this. We are the same way. Planning trips so I can visit estate sales and shows. I love the treasure hunt, too. Since I'm a collector of vinatge jewelry, its always fun to add to my collection and pay for it by selling pieces that I am no longer interested in. Gosh, 50 coach bags...Those should really sell, too. I love coach.

Have to get up at 6am to finish Christmas shopping...12:50 here now, so I better get some sleep. Hang in there, we can talk more later. I'll say prayers for us tonight.

The classified adds in newspapers are just a venue, because they do not collect final value fees for items sold. They only collect advertising fees. Also, they do not police what is listed, outside of obviously illegal items.

Ebay has a claims service. That also takes them out of "just the venue" arena. (There are many other implications that can also be easily argued that Ebay is not just a venue)

Pretty simple really.

Also, a user agreement is only enforceable to the extent that others opt to take it, or not to take it, to task in the legal arena. Signed or not.

Anything can be argued in a court of law. Best to have all the T's crossed and i's dotted when dealing with the masses and their money.

Also, one can be right, and still lose. Depends on the representation, and implication to those who stand to be affected adversely.

And since they remove listings and forfeit those fees obviously they care more about buyers then the fees.

No, they don't. They haven't for a long time. When a suspected counterfeit item is removed eBay may refund the first time.

As stated within Ebay's policies, they do not refund the fees for any subsequent removals, even if they were wrongfully removed.

I dont know where you came up with that idea but i work in trust in safety and I remove listings every day i work and i know that ebay cares more about the buyers and every fee is always credited back to the user when a listing is canceled.

If (if) you work in Trust and Safety and are giving us a "professional view" of ebay's practices you should be posting under a Pink Banner. Please repost this officially.

I dont post in forums for eBay, this is my personal account.

That would explain his constant attack on sellers posting here.

You are using an id which is not linked to ebay and yet purporting to give the official ebay position on an issue by dint of your "professional" ebay experience. Wonder what they'd make of that ?

Sorry - using an id which is not demonstrably linked to ebay. A small oversight on my part, tsk, tsk.

You can't do that, pooksie. Not when you're saying you're an ebay employee and therefore you know the ebay policy position ?

I've been giving my opinion on the selling limit this whole time. I dont see a problem

I'm not always on this board so I don't know whether you've stated it before as an alleged ebay employee stating an ebay policy position before.

Now I myself am chilled out this evening having wrapped all presents and had 2 chardonnays (eat your heart out spaces.)I am myself prepared to believe that you've had too may tequilas and will regret this deeply tomorrow. I still think that you may find yourself a tad discomfited.

I've emailed the posts to Rob Chesnut. I think I would prefer getting HIS take on an employee posting on the boards and representing the company without the use of an identifying ID.

Pooksie, you're wrong. I know sellers that have had auctions removed that were NOT refunded their listing fees. Sorry, you're not credible.

I think that's probably appropriate caped.

What I find most suspect is that POOKSIE112 stated earlier in the thread that someone that was posting (a seller) "had violations" on their account when in fact they never have.

I just feel this is something that Rob needs to take a look at. Something is very wrong here.

Sorry caped. Was a tad distracted. I've known sellers who weren't refunded also. It's been on .co.

Lol, first of all I can share my opinions on the selling limit. I believe I was the one that brought up violations, I assumed thats why they had the limit but that was a guess. I didnt accuse them of having violations or anything like that.

I didn't remember that. I guess there are a number of varieties of possible "wrongs".

Rob, to be clear, here is one of the posts I wrote to you about:

pooksie112 (9 ) View Listings | Report Dec-23-06 20:20 PST 374 of 422
I didnt mean that but thats another point. People steal pictures or dont send what they took a pic of. ebay cant send people to everyones house to make sure what they sell is real.

You must have the limit still cause of violations. Why should they believe you when you have violations?

They remove listings that appear to be infringing. They remove listings that are similar to fraudelent listings. They dont remove them because they think it might be fake.

Seller states they have NO violations on their account. However IF they did, is it o.k. with you to have employees that work in the Draper, Utah location post confidential information on the boards that violates Ebay's privacy rules?

I don't think this is what you would want from ANY employee.

But I'm all for refunding sellers if their listings were removed. I've never heard of anything that never was refunded though

Thank you caped. I think that pooksie can join my favourite sellers list (aka the graveyard.) It might be interesting.

Yeah, I guess I worded that wrong. I meant like if they had violations and wanted the limit removed, how could ebay trust them if they did have previous violations. I wasnt accusing them of having violations, they know if they do or not.

Well, I'm not too surprised, but I am really disgusted. Ebay and employees are reaching new lows. Pookie, you are an employee of ebay and you are an employee no matter where you go or what you do. You might not have a legal obligation to stste this, but you certainly have a moral and ethical obligation. I figured ebay would monitor this chat, but I never thought they would pretend to be one of us...So, the person who posted, "How much does ebay pay you?" was correct. I thought you were looking at ebays methods through rose colored glasses, but it is through the eyes of a snake in the grass. You should be ashamed of yourself. My estimate of ebay has now sunk to an all time low. Just listening to you pookie, if I didn't sell my ebay stock 2 weeks ago, I would dump all of it. How ironic to call this forum, "SAFE HARBOR" now that we are all looking over our shoulders to see what mask will be wearing next. diane@acarlover.com
